Ear lobes can be fully or partially torn due to heavy earrings or trauma (often caused by a child or pet).

When the wound heals, there may be a residual and visible deformity.

“Ear lobes can be reconstructed surgically so as to recreate your normal anatomy and so that you may wear earrings once again.”

Some patients who have used ear stretchers in the past would like to return their ear lobes to their original dimensions. Other patients would like surgery to correct ear lobes which have been too large or deformed since birth. In such cases, the goal is to harmonize the aesthetic proportions of the ears.

Chirurgie des lobes d'oreilles

What does the surgery entail and what are the potential risks and complications associated with this procedure?

This surgery is done under local anesthesia.

The ear lobe is stitched shut using melting stitches. The site of original ear piercings can be removed during the operation or preserved so that you may continue to wear earrings after you have healed. Ear lobe surgery is a minor and very safe surgery, with minimal risk of complications.

Infection

Standard antiseptic measures are used in order to prevent infection. It is recommended that you clean the wound three times a day will slightly soapy water. Be sure to dry it well. The use of such preventive measures will help avoid postoperative infections.

Reccurence

In order to minimize the risk of tearing, it is recommended that you wear light earrings and remove them when practising any sport.
